Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
For the last few days I have noticed that my heart seems to beat harder for a beat or two and then it goes back to normal. I am not doing anything intense just sitting and relaxing. I have never had any problems with my heart before. It comes as quickly as it goes. I do not smoke although someone I live with does and I do not drink anything with caffeine in it.
Rapid heart beat and palpitation can be occurred in heart related pathology or in anxiety.
Need to ruled out heart related pathology. For that routine screening and investigations are necessary.
Physical examinations of pulse and heart rate/ Blood pressure in both position sitting and standing/Electrocardiogram/ECHO etc can help to find out proper causes of it.
It is must to go for general check up after 35 years and heart check up is Must.
If all comes normal then it is possible that palpitation can be due to anxiety. Then need to consult psychiatrist for further help.
Consult physician and get help. Glad to help you further.
Thank you.
