What Causes Heart Palpitations With Chest Fluttering Pains?

Hi. I am a 41 year-old female with mild, uncontrolled hypertension. I have an irregular heartbeat and heart disease runs in my family. Yesterday I was sitting down being quiet and I felt a very faint "fluttery" pain in the center of my chest then I felt what I can only describe as a profusion feeling starting in the center of my back outward and up my neck and back of my head. The area then felt icy. This all only lasted a few seconds and I immediately took 2 baby aspirin and went to the ER. All my tests were normal but I can't help feel terrified that something is wrong with my cardiovascular system. I have an appointment with a heart rhythm specialist this week. Are there any specific tests I should be asking for to determine what that sensation could have been?

Hello! Do not worry, because your pain is not typical for a heart attack. It can be explicated as rhythm disorders (Arytmia) which can be determined by making some examinations. If the electrocardiogram is ok, then I recommend you to monitor the rhythm for 24 hours (holter rhythm 24-hours), also a cardiac ultrasound. According to the answers of thase examination, you should receive the adequate therapy from your cardiologist. Please do not hesitate to write again if you have more questions. I wish you good health!
All the best,
