Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
What your boyfriend is suffering is viral infection of respiratory tract.
Since it causes congestion of mucosal tract of nose and paranasal sinuses, he experiencing headache while coughing.
He needs to take decongestant medications along with the ones what has been prescribed by your doctor.
He needs to take supportive care by taking steam inhalation thrice daily and do salt water gargling with warm water thrice daily.
Gradually, he should get better and be back to normal.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr.Ashakiran.S.
