What Causes Headaches, Tiredness And Fever In A Child?

for over 2 weeks 5 year old son has been complaining about feeling like he s going to throw up. He does not, but he s got the feeling like he will. He s had a couple of headaches in the last 2 weeks, not common for him. He seems more tired than usual, and his temperature goes up slightly once in a while. Any thoughts?

Pulmonologist 's  Response
Hello,

All his symptoms are more in favour of meningitis (infection of brain layers). Children are more prone to viral meningitis which show similar symptoms like a headache, nausea, tired feeling etc.

So immediately take him to the paediatrician and get done a detailed clinical examination to rule out meningitis.

He may need MRI brain and CSF examination too for confirmation of diagnosis. Don't worry, with early diagnosis and treatment, he will be alright.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Kaushal Bhavsar, Pulmonologist
