What Causes Headaches And Dizziness Post Trauma?

Hello. I had a soccer game about two weeks ago and in the game, the ball hit me in the head with a lot of pressure. I heard a crack when it hit me and I felt dizzy and a little nauseous afterwards. I also heard a cracking noise when I jerked my head around and I still do. I have had an ongoing headache since then and I get dizzy when I move my head or eyes too quickly. I also feel a small dent in my head where the ball hit and I don t remember having one there before. Should I go to the doctor or am I fine?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of dizziness and headache. The symptoms you mention in query can occur due to many reasons like benign paroxysmal positional vertigo, inflammation within the inner ear sometimes due to infection , meniere's disease , acoustic neuroma , sinusitis and multiple sclerosis. But in your case the symptms are due to trauma . You should avoid bending forward , take steam , drink ginger tea thrice a day and do light exercises daily . I would suggest you to consult with ENT specialist for proper checkup so that there will not be any further complication. Doctor may order certain test like CT scan , MRI , blood test , audiometry test and ECG to confirm the diagnosis. Doctor may prescribe anti emetic drug, sedatives , antibiotics , decongestants, drain sinus and prescribe some ear aid.Doctor may also refer you to neurologist .

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
