What Causes Headache With Tightness In That Area?

I,m experiencing sudden head pain a little above my ear. A few months ago I was told that it was a swollen lymph node. The little knot in that area is gone now but that sudden pain is back. I also have tightness in that area of my head as well. What could be wrong?

Hi,

Noted your history of sudden headache above ear, was told about lymph node a few months ago whcih is not present now, there is tightness also.
The lymph nodes are present behind the ears and never above the ear.
Hence the cause of such a sudden headache can be one of the following:
Tension headache.
Vascular headache like migraine.
Nerve pinching supplying to the said area.
Tumor inside the skull.
This can be diagnosed in the following ways:
Consult your regular Physician for regular checkup including blood pressure for preliminary cause finding.
To undergo the investigations as would be needed.
Take Paracetamol or so to reduce or alleviate the pain.
Further management will be as per the cause found.
reduce stress and anxiety as this can be the cause.
Take rest.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
