Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Headache With Lightheadedness After Abdominal Surgery?
I recently had abdominal surgery for an incisional hernia repair. 5 days after surgery I began having intense ringing in the ears, dizziness with the ringing. It is constant when I am laying down & sometimes goes away when I m standing up. The ringing is so loud it almost feels like my skull is vibrating. Not sure why this started after surgery but I ve never had this until now. there is also sometimes a headache and pain with the ringing/lightheadedness.
I can well understand the issues you have after the surgery. Such kind of issues start due to side effects of the drugs of anesthesia and will remain for a couple of days to a week. These may also be due to post surgical anemia but is rare as they must have kept your hemoglobin in normal range. But we can't keep this possibility aside.
If you smoke or drink alcohol, or anybody else at your household is a smoker, stop all that immediately. It may also be an important reason for such issues.
Take plenty of water and fresh fruit juices and Phineramine at night. Slight physical activity will resolve the symptoms fast.
Hope it helps you today. Need further assistence, follow up anytime.
Regards! Dr. Muhammad Majid Hanif USA
