What Causes Headache Post Inhalation Of Paint Fumes?

For an art project today in school we had to use paint markers. I noticed that during and after this class i got a pretty annoying headache. I also ended up bringing a few paint markers home with me to use to complete my project which i decided to do in my very small confined room. I forgot to open my window, and the smell has become very strong in here and i have developed a severe headache, i m feeling kind of dizzy and im having a weird sort of pain right below my rib cage like I swallowed pool water. Should i be worried? (i opened the windows up now btw!)

Hi,

As per your query you have symptoms of headache post inhalation of paint fumes which is due to polyurethane and several potentially harmful substances in paints such as volatile organic compounds, known as VOCs which are mainly responsible for ill health.

I would suggest you to stay in ventilated environment and now open windows and keep on inhaling fresh air. Drink plenty of water and take vitamin C tablets for several weeks as it will cause antioxidation.

If any symptoms occurs again consult doctor without any delay, because condition sometimes become complicated. Start treatment after thorough examination.
