What Causes Headache At The Base Of The Skull?

I have had headaches at the base of my skull for several years. In the past couple of years, I often have a sound that accompanies them, sounding like sandpaper in my head. My neurologist seems to think it s nothing serious, but the headaches and sounds are both occurring several times every day. Could there be a cause other than migraines? The headaches have been treated as migraines, but they don t go away. They sometimes lessen, but never disappear entirely.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I think you should you should do a cervical x-ray. I think you may be suffering from spondylitis or bulking disc. An MRI is more accurate.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Olgeta Xhufka , General & Family Physician
