What Causes Headache And Tenderness In Jaw After A Head Injury?

I was hit in the top of the head yesterday about 12:30 in the afternoon. I have had a constant head ache, both jaws are very tender, and when I open my mouth very wide it hurts on both sides of my face from my bottom jaw up through my ears and the side of my head. What could the problem be?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain it seems that due to head injury there has been injury to the jaw joints and there can be injury to the articular disk which is present between the two bony parts of the jaw joint as well as there is inflammation of the muscles of the jaw and face leading to tenderness and pain..
The pain in ears and side of head is radiating pain from the jaw as well as head..
You should consult an oral surgeon and get a full mouth x ray known as ORTHOPANTOMOGRAM [OPG] done so that he can rule out the possibility of slight dislocation or any cracks in the jaw bone or any other abnormality..
Along with it as this is associated with head injury MRI or CT Scan followed by complete evaluated by a Neurophysician should be done and treatment will be planned accordingly..
As of now you can take anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen 400 mg thrice a day..

Hope this information helps..
