What Causes Headache And Stomach Upset After Taking Verapamil And Hydralazine?

Hi! My Mom is currently taking Verapamil ER 300mg capsule/day andHydralazine 10mg two tabs twice a day for hypertension. However she wakes up with a headache daily and blood presure is still high. Plus her stomache gets upset. Do you think the above symptoms are from those medications?

Both verapamil and hydralazine can cause headache and stomach upset. Headache is also caused by uncontrolled high blood pressure. The first line of treatment for hypertension is lifestyle changes, including dietary changes, physical exercise, and weight loss. Several classes of medications, collectively referred to as antihypertensive medications, are available for treating hypertension.
Advice
1.     Consult your doctor for change of medicine or dose modification
2.     Start workout like walking, jogging, cycling, or swimming
3.     Take diet rich in whole grains, fruits, and vegetables
4.     Avoid oily and high cholesterol foods such as egg yolk and milk products etc
5.     Consume less salt
6.     Avoid smoking, alcohol, coffee and caffeinated beverages
7.     Lose extra weight if you are overweight
8.     Reduce your metal stress because stress activates sympathetic system and increases BP
9.     Measure your BP regularly
