this is for my husband,he has been getting a bad headache every night for the past two and a half weeks. it seems as though the pain is in back of head more on left side then goes into the neck. he even said his gland seems to bother him. he has been putting ice packs on the neck and head and gets some relief.
Hello dear, Thanks for being on healthcaremagic.com. Your husband is apparently having daily headache at the back of the head which radiates down the neck. Most likely cause for the same is 'Tension type headache'(TTH).TTH is usually due to the chronically tonic contracted of scalp and neck muscles which is perceived as heaviness in head and neck tightness. It is usually associated with mental stress and excessive thoughts.Mental relaxation exercises/Yoga may be of help in this.Medicines like 'amitriptyline' may be of help(medicines to be taken under a physician's guidance).Alternatively, chronic migraine can be a possibility but it is usually accompanied with visual aura, nausea and increased on exposure to light and sound. Please visit your physician so that he can take a detailed history and make the appropriate diagnosis.I hope it helps you.
