What Causes Headache And Eye Pain While Taking Metformin For Diabetes?
I have type two diabetes up to now controlled with glimepride and diet....this past year sugar has jumped to 300 to 400 with a diet low in carbohydrates and the same every day.enodcrinologist raise dose from 6 mg of amaryl to 8 mg daily. Now I was put on metformin 500 mg long acting.. 2X daily.. Since taking the new medication my sugar is down to 210- 215.. after a few days However, and this is my concern I m not feeling great.. symptoms sluggish, headache and eye pain all very mild.. Also dimunition in appetite.some mild back pain , but a lot of time in bed any ideas

Thanks for posting your query.
There is no physical problem in you. All these symptoms are happening because your sugars are coming to control .
See your body would have got adjusted to high blood sugar levels of 300-400. From that level if the sugars come to 210-215 ( almost half the previous value ) the body feels that its sugar value is going low and hence it shows these symptoms.
If your symptoms are very much bothering then you can take Metformin once a day for a week and then increase it to twice a day.
But for your eye pain I would recommend an FUNDUS examination to look for any eye problems.
