What Causes Hard Knots And Bumps On Shin Area?

My husband is 34 years old and about 2 weeks ago noticed a hard knot in his shin, on the side. The knot has been sore to touch. During the past week he has had 4 or 5 hard bumps appear on the surface of the skin around the area on the shin and today a new one has appeared on his calf. What could be the cause?

Hello,

The bumps can be related to foruncle which is an infection of the hair follicle. I suggest to use hydrogen peroxide to clean the area.

I also suggest to use an antibiotic cream for local application such as Neosporin cream. If the symptoms continue, you should see a dermatologist for further evaluation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi
