What Causes Hair Loss And Elevated WBC Count?

Hi, I have a really high white blood cell count, 30 times the upper limit. I am also experiencing thinning hair, and I ve always had a ton of hair, and for the first time ever I ve missed my period, no I m not pregnant. And I have back muscle (lower) pain. Are these things connected? Thanks, Vickie

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello Dear. Kindly go to a tertiary care hospital because you need thorough evaluation. High WBC can be a sign of infection somewhere, or in serious cases can be sign of leukemia (blood cancer). There may be many reasons for hair loss like infection, genetic, hormonal disorders like thyroid disorder, diabetes, also liver disease etc etc.
Unless we do full evaluation it is really difficult to arrive at any diagnosis in your case. Kindly meet your doctor at the earliest and get evaluated.

Hope i have answered your question. Feel free to contact me if you have any more questions. I ll be glad to help you.
All the best
With warm regards
Dr Sanjay Kini
