What Causes Hair Loss After Receiving Epidural Injections?

Every time I get Epidural injections my hair falls out, is very dry & brittle, and goes into a dormant state about 3-4 months following the injection. I thought it was the steroids, but someone told me it s the Kenalog. Is Kenalog considered a steroid or just another type of pain medication?

Hi,

Kenalog is a corticosteroid, one of its side effect is thinning of the hair. Hair loss often results due to deficiency of Vitamin D. Inform your treating doctor so that either the dose can be reduced, monitored or the medicine can be changed to some other that suits you better.

In the meantime take food rich in Biotin, vitamin A, C, D, E, folic acid along with minerals, take high calcium & protein rich diet. Keep your scalp oiled & wash your hair regularly with Selsun (Selenium) shampoo.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
