What Causes Haemorrhoids During Postpartum?

Hi, very embarrassing, but I just had my second baby 3 months ago and I ve been having hemmroids. I eat a lot of fiber & am careful about straining and it s not going away. I also noticed something else sticking out which is really worrying me. It s flesh colored and is like a skinny stick. Weird

Hello,

As per my clinical experience, many of the pregnant women face issue of hemorrhoids development from the:
- Pelvic congestion via developing baby
- Constipation during intra-partum period
- Excess straining during labor or else

Over and above the measure of fiber intake, following points of care will help you as:
- Plenty of liquids
- Bulk forming laxative as Bran, Psyllium or Methylcellulose
- Local application of Xylocaine (5%) jelly
- Sitz bath (sitting in a tub filled with lukewarm water 5 minutes each twice a day, additionally after passing stool)
- Avoid anal sex (if applicable). Consult your consultant surgeon if required as per the progress of the condition.
