What Causes Gum Swelling With Salty Taste In Mouth?

Hi, I'm not sure but my gum on the right side bottom jaw seems to be swollen. It has been this way since saturday...Anyways, it tastes kind of salty like on the swollen part I guess. However I did do some research and I ended up scaring the daylights out of myself. I'm really worried and would like to know what I could do to get rid of this...Thank you in advance.

Hi..
Can understand your concern..

As per your complain swelling over the gums along with salty taste denotes that the swelling has occurred due to infection and the bump contains pus which has got an opening (sinus drainage) from where some discharge must be taking place leading to salty taste which is due to pus..

The swelling can be either due to infection in gums either due to injury by some food or picking with the toothpick which can cause infection and inflammation in the gums causing pus formation and swelling or it can be due to infected tooth causing pus formation near the root tips which causes accumulation of pus into the soft tissues causing swelling..

I would suggest you to consult a dentist and get evaluated and in case it is due to infection in gums scaling followed by antibiotics and gum paint can help..

In case of tooth infection either root canal treatment or extraction followed by antibiotics and painkiller can relieve..

Hope this information helps..
