Hello doctor. My son s 6 month old... for past 6 days he passes green stools only once in everymorning.. i dont knw wats the reason... i m giving lactogen nestum rice and also breastfeeding. .lactogen morning and night 150 ml. And nestum only one time but i started in 5th month itself.. pls kindly tell me the reason for green stools.. but it not watery. I m in fear.
The baby may have a viral infection or may be suffering from stomach flu, both of which lead to diarrhea in the form of watery green stools. Continue breastfeeding your baby and please take your infant to the doctor as she may run the risk of getting dehydrated. Iron supplements, baby diet changes and teething in babies can also cause green stools.
Foremilk (milk which comes out first) has a low-fat constitution and is rich in lactose. Hindmilk (comes out after foremilk), on the other hand, is rich in fat. Together, they form a perfect blend that is required for the baby’s diet. However, when there is an abundance of foremilk, the baby is full before she can get to the hindmilk. This causes digestive problems as there may not be enough lactase to break down the lactose, leading to a green colored stool.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
