What Causes Grainy Feeling In Eye Post Removal Of Conjunctival Cysts?

Hi I have many health problems, 2 cancers: breast 3 years ago and a rare form of thyroid cancer: Medullary thyroid cancer. I also have lupus and relapsing polychondritis. I m a mess. I see an opthamologist regularly because I am on plaquenil. One month ago I saw an eyelid surgeon she referred me to have several clusters of conjunctival cysts removed. Each eye was done a week apart. (I should mention I have had scleritis too - relapsing Polychondritis flare). The eyelid surgeon was able to remove all of the cysts in sacs. I was so pleased. Now, exactly a month later my eye felt grainy again so I look and there is a huge cluster of them back already. I understand that cysts can return but a bunch of them so quickly? Now, because of all my other ailments, I wonder if there could be a more serious cause. I have made apps with my docs but wanted to do some advance research. I am 51 if that matters. Thank you.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* The conjuctival cysts are known to recur over varying period of times within days to months. Current recommendations till you approach your ophthalmic surgeon

- splashing of eyes with cold water 3-4 times a day
- wear protective goggles when going outside home
- avoid frequent hand or finger touch to eyes
- continue your current medications
- control of blood sugar to prevent flare up of the infection.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
