What Causes Fungal Sinusitis?

Have you heard of a nasal fungal infection caused from dust blown around the globe from the Sahara Desert? I ve been dealing with something for 9 months now that my Naturopath thinks is this, without much success. I also started Sovaldi and Robavirin July 15 to wipe out Hepatitis C and a number of things seem to be out of whack with my body from that. Allergies, a new one to mold coming on strong in Aug & Sept, cold sore eruptions that don t react to medicine I ve previously been successful with, sores inside mouth and nasal passages .

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of fungal sinusitis which means you are suffering from condition known as chronic sinusitis. It could be due to infection in lymph nodes as well/ eustachian tube dysfunction as well.Fungal infection in sinus is rare . I would suggest you to take nasal decongestant sprays, Antihistamines and antibiotic combination as infection is present. Co amoxiclav is best treatment option. You should take steam inhalation. Avoid intake of outside food. Visit ENT specialist once and get it examined. Go for paranasal sinus X ray and get puncture and drainage of sinus if required. Doctor may prescribe antifungal along with anti inflammatory .You can go for surgical reconstruction of opening after proper prescription. Do warm saline gargles and take steam..

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
