What Causes Frequent Urination While On Citalopram?

I have been on citalopram 20 mgs for 2 years since the break up of my relationship. My doctor is relutant for me to come off this medication at the moment. My questions are 1. I experience frequent urination during the night, at least 6 or 7 times and the other thing is 2 I have lost half the amount of hair on my head in the last year. would that be due to under active thyroid or could the citalopram be causing it?

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have frequent urination while on Citalopram . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like UTI , diabetes and prostate problem , But in your case the symptoms are due to citalopram as its side effects . Frequent urination is typical side effect of this drug , But hair loss is not known to cause by this drug , so consult dermatologist for it to rule out causes like hormonal changes , fungal infection etc . Also consult doctor who prescribed citalopram and discuss the condition . Doctor may alter the dose or prescribe substitute .
