What Causes Frequent Urination In A 4 Year Old Boy?

What would be causing a 4 year old boy to be urinating frequently. He also has wet his bed a couple times at night this week which he has never done. Daycare called to advise of his change in urinating ? Color seems to be good, no blood or discharge. When he urinates it is a normal flow and frequent. This just started this week.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Suggestive of some underlying problem. Increased frequency of urination (polyuria) in childhood could be due to diabetes mellitus, diabetes insipidus, urinary tract infection, kidney diseases, or psychogenic. He should be carefully evaluated by a pediatrician to find out the underlying cause and appropriate treatment be given.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
