What Causes Frequent Urination During The Day?

I am 69 years old and find myself having to urinate multiple times during the day. I only have to do so during the night once or twice. I am still working and feel that I am wasting far too much time making trips to the bathroom and back. Any suggestions?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello!
Keeping the age in mind, I would suggest you to get the blood sugar levels tested. Also, in men the prostrate gland enlarges as the age progresses, known as benign prostatic hypertrophy. It is important to get an ultrasound scan of the abdomen to check the post void urine residue or a cystoscopy. Avoid excess intake of caffeine, alcohol snd smoking as they can irritate the bladder. Avoid excess intake of water, try to pass urine and wait for a few seconds and then pass urine. This double voiding helps in complete urination. A visit to the urologist may be beneficial. Hope you feel better soon.
