What Causes Frequent Hiccups Everyday?

My daughter just turned 18. She s 5 5 tall and weighs 150 pounds. She takes Keppra for her epilepsy and birth control for her PCOS. Recently, she s been getting hiccups. Every day, sometimes a couple times a day. This has been going on for over a month and is driving her crazy. Anything we can do about this?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your daughter has a history of epilepsy and is on BC pills and Keppra. The side effects of Keppra is dryness of mouth, hoarseness & may or may not be associated with hiccups. You are suggested to get your daughter clinically examined by the treating doctor so that the medicine can be replaced by some other that suits her better or the doses can be reduced.

She should stay well hydrated and well nourished. Help her stay away from addictions if any. She should avoid stress, anxiety and take adequate sleep. Hope I have answered your query. Take care.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
