What Causes Frequent Bowel Movements And Blood In Stool In A Child?

my 2 yr old grandson has been pooping every hour or so and have quite a bit of blood in his stool. he was taken to the pediatrician and tests are being done on his stool. I am concerned because of the amount of blood. Should my son wait on the results which won t come back until Tuesday or should he take him to the emergency room?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and greetings

Let the results of investigations come. If there are no infective cause diagnosed, then we will have to go for Colonoscopy as that can be possibly due to pediatric Crohn's disease or other inflammatory bowel disease.

Consult a gastroenterologist immediately.

Thanks.
