What Causes Frequent Bowel Movements Along With Flatulence?

Hello, I am having middle stomach discomfort - kind of flatulence for around a week. I have bowel movement 2 or 3 times a day, not clear. Doctors gave Rebeprazole and Antacid - they don t work. Stomach makes sounds, stool floats - consistency semi-solid, yellow. No Mucus. I feel not to eat, but can eat. Feel hunger too. Intermittently, the uncomfort gets worse, and I feel fatigue. 5-6 months before, I had continuous pain in middle stomach - doctor said it is IBS. It got better with medications till this uncomfort (not pain came). 2 unltrasounds in 2013 and 2014 detected no stone in gall bladder, pancreas, kidney etc. No parasite in stool test around 5-6 months before. Endoscopy found no problem in upper stomach. Have little nausea intermittently, but do not vomit. What is it? Could it be cancer in lower intestine? Thanks.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of frequent bowel movements along with flatulence which could be due to irritable bowel syndrome, gastroenteritis, giardiasis, poor metabolism of body, lactose intolerance, and food poisoning. I would suggest you to take proper rest and avoid intake of any sharp, spicy and oily food. You should take over the counter anti histamine twice a day like benadryl , take antacid after every meal , take small and frequent meal. You should avoid lying down immediately after having food. If condition doesn't get well then consult gastroenetrlogist for proper examination. Doctor may prescribe omeprazole along with lopramide . You should take oral rehydrating solution in diet.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
