What Causes Frequent Blackouts After Suffering A Head Injury?

My 15 year old son suffered a Head injury (post concussive Syndrome) was what it was stated to be diagnosis. He also has Asperger's disorder. He injured his head November Of 2009. His symptoms were Amnesia, headaches, lots of memory loss. He recovered and then 8 months later got hit with a basketball in thhe head. Had a replaps. Since the relaps he gets "blackouts" . We suspect stress causes them but still scary. Done EEGS, CATS and MRIs and nothing shows up. Should this question be directed to a Neurologist or Phychologist not sure? And...is this part of normal recovery for Post concussive syndrome or TBI?

Neurologist 's  Response
In my opinion, this should be thoroughly worked up by a neurologist. There are different types of EEG's that can be done to try and "find" the problem causing the blackouts. Stress is not on the top of my list of possibilities until everything else has been ruled out. If he suffered 2 traumatic brain injuries (again, something best ruled on by a NEUROLOGIST with training in what constitutes a TBI) then, this could be important to making a diagnosis and then, choosing a path to follow whether it be treating his blackouts empirically with medication to see how he responds or sending him for psychotherapy analysis if it is more likely to be, as you say, psychological (stress). Again, my money is against "stress" if this was not his state of affairs PRIOR to the traumas to the head.
