What Causes Frequent Appearance Of Red Bumps On Skin In Child?

We have a five year old child who has developed red bumps on his skin. A couple days ago they developed on his upper back at the base of his neck. we applied Calamine lotion and they cleared up in a day or so. Today more have developed on his inner legs below where his shorts were. It has been warm for the last few days but I have read that heat rash typically develops beneath the clothing and itches. Our son has not been itching them an this latest development was not under his clothing.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

There are two possibilities:
1. Mosquito bite allergy
2. Allergy to cosmetics

It would be helpful if you can send a picture. The best course of action is to avoid mosquito bites, strong soaps and cosmetics. If the rash recurs, it is better to consult a dermatologist.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Jesudasan A., Pediatrician
