What Causes Foul Taste In The Mouth?

For the past 2 weeks While sleeping I develop sour, foul saliva in my mouth. I wake out my sleep to a mouth full of this foul saliva and have to spit at least 4-5 times during the night. I brush and floss at night and I don't know why this is happening. Please give me some insight.

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems the symptoms of foul taste in mouth along with excess salivation especially during night is probably due to acid reflux or GERD..

Certain foods that are seen to common cause are spicy and heavy meals, frizzy drinks, chocolates, onion and garlic, citrus foods and fruits, tea and coffee, alcohol etc..

Other causes can be excess intake of spices,alcoholism,side effects of medications, stress etc..

I would suggest yoU to start taking Proton Pump Inhibitors like Omeprazole orPantoprazole, antacids like Milk of Magnesia can be taken half an hour before meals..
You should take more of probiotics like Yoghurt in diet..
Drink plenty of water..
You should avoid large meals and take small frequent meals..
You should take walk after meals..
Sleep with head slightly raised as compared to feet.
You should do regular moderate workout..
Avoid stress..

If there is no improvement consult a Gastroenterologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like Endoscopy can help in diagnosis and treated accordingly..
