Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi so every morning I use the bathroom for the first time of the day my urine smells like the sewer and sometimes the second time I need to pee as well and then wheres off more during the day. I also feel like I constantly have to be and I have had uti before but never had this bad smell in my urine. The area right below my clitoris also feels very sensitive and uncomfortable, it almost looks like veins but they are red lines (look like veins) that I have been putting neosporin on for the past two days. Any advice would be appreciated, thank you.
Thank you for the query. I would have liked to know your age and whether you suffer from any associated conditions like diabetes. From the symptoms that you have mentioned (foul smell in urine, discomfort in the vulval area) and a past h/o of UTI, it may be possible that you are again having a Urinary infection. There may be an associated infection in the vulval area (which may be fungal- eg candida). I would advise you to get a Urine Routine examination and culture/sensitivity done along with a total count/blood sugar profile (if not done before). Since, you are having frequent urinary infection, you may get a USG lower abdomen done, along with a residual urinary volume estimation to rule out any obstruction. In the meantime, it is suggested to have adequate fluid intake (>2 L/day), since concentrated urine may lead to foul smell. A urinary alkaliniser may help occasionally. If a urine infection is detected, you may need an antibiotic therapy. An anti-fungal cream (clotrimazole) may be applied in the vulval area. The private parts must be kept clean and dry. However, a clinical examination by a physician may be needed, to determine the exact nature of the lesions.
Hope this helps you Regards Dr Ayusmati Thakur
