What Causes Foaming At The Mouth Post Alcohol Consumption?
A college co-ed was participating in an all late night, end of the summer event where she danced, participated in several beer bongs and tequila shots in a crowded frat house. Due to the heat of the party and thinking she could fend off a hang-over the student consumed large amounts of water. She and her roommate stumbled their way back to the dorms. The next morning, however, she was found unresponsive and foaming at the mouth (no seizures were reported).
Well, the seizure might not have been seen. There are a large number of (all very deadly) possibilities besides seizures. There can be a fluid accumulation effect such as with heart, liver, or kidney failure. Unlikely and pretty easy to tell even without autopsy. There is regurgitation. There is shock lung (less likely). and just a lot of saliva and not able to handle secretions due to heavy intoxication or other brain disfunction.
