What Causes Fluttering Sensation In The Abdomen?

Good morning, I am a 25-year-old male and have been having a fluttering sensation on my abdomen - recently on the upper left side. I tend to pass gas a lot, wake up with bouts of nausea and generally have no appetite all day. I have adbominal pains that range from dull to sharp aches, and sometimes have a running stomach. I was diagnosed with peptic ulcers about 2 years ago and underwent treatment, so wasn t having much of the ulcer symptoms anymore except when I m stressed (main trigger). What could be causing the flutters and the resurgence of these symptoms?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello
I share your concern.

Looking at your description and previous history of peptic ulcer 2 years back, I would advise you for battery of investigation like blood for CBC, liver function test and ultrasound abdomen for liver, gall bladder and pancreas or an upper gastrointestinal endoscopy if need be.

Meanwhile I would advise you to take antiacidity medicine like ranitidine or pantoprazole group of drugs with antacids for 4-5days and follow these guidelines.
1. Avoid fatty fried spicy and junk food and carbonated beverages.
2. Have lots of fresh fruits and vegetables with dietary fiber supplement in your diet.
3. Try to avoid stress and anxiety by relaxation exercises, yoga and meditation.
4. don't skip meal and avoid overeating.
5. you should not drink or smoke.

Straight answer to your question is as follows.
Flutter and resurgence of symptoms might be related to stress and anxiety, faulty food habits, drinking or smoking, H pylori infection and many other causes.
So you should try to identify any underlying cause for this issue and accordingly it's prevention.

Hope this answers your question please feel free to ask for follow up question I will gladly answer you.
Best wishes
