What Causes Fluttering In The Chest?

I can feel my heart beat when I lay down and can feel it in my ears. My pulse rate is normal. Sometimes I feel a flutter in my chest during the day. What could be the cause? I am 52 year old female and had a full cardiac work up a little less than a year ago. I went to my primary doctor he did an EKG and it shows no change from last year.

Hello,
What you describe, in medical terms it is labelled as 'Palpitations'. they can be physiological or pathological. Physiologically it is most commonly associated with anxiety, and can very well be managed by breathing techniques and other anxiety allaying methods. If it is affecting your daily routine it can be controlled by anxiolytics medications. But mind you, these medications are not available without doctors prescription.
When pathological, they signify an abnormality in conduction of cardiac impulses. They are best to be evaluated by a cardiologist and I reffer you to the same for that.
Thank You.
Any more queries are welcome.
Regards.
