What Causes Fluid Retention Under The Skin On The Thighs?

My husband has fluid under his skin on his thigh which is the size of an average fist. He had an Ultra Sound (inconclusive) then an MRI which ended up doing contrast. He was told that he may have bumped it therefore the buildup. He is on a ton of meds for arthritis. It was suggested that an aspiration &/Or biopsy may be done. We believe that he has had this for some time 6 months or more as it is now noticeable as he has lost a lot of muscle/weight due to the arthritis meds. What do you think?

Hello,

It could be a cystic swelling.

Consult an orthopaedician and plan for an MRI scan to make a diagnosis.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
