What Causes Fluid In The Lungs?

I was recently in the hospital for pneumonia which they later diagnosed as chf. They said I had a stiff heart with systolic involvement. I had fluid in my lungs and a very high bnp. My doctor put me on a diuretic. How serious is this. My doctor says he will see me in three months and didn t explain anything. I am 73 years old with hypertension and diabetes. Phil

You are having diabetes and hypertension problem, hence you are predispose for cardiac problem

You are having chf means congestive heart failure in which to reduce load on heart for which diuretic prescribed...

Your regular follow up is needed

For further work up echocardiography needs to be done

According to examination and response to medication further prognosis can be decided

Take low salt diet and monitor blood pressure regularly

Take care

Consult physician or cardiologist for examination
