What Causes Fluid In The Ears?

My 6 year old grand daughter has issues with her ears/hearing. She was treated once about a year ago. She was treated with antibiotics to dry up the water in her ears and then recomended to go to a speech therapist. She went to the speech therapist for several months and seemed to get better. But recently she s been having trouble hearing again and her Mom took her back today and the water is there again. She was prescribed an antibiotic and to go to the speech therapist again. DO you think we should be taking any other course of action??

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Thanks for your question on HCM & I do understand your concern

“As” per your clinical history is concerned hearing loss can be due to many pathological causes so you need to visit an ENT doctor and do a clinical check up, and he will confirm whether infection is present or not if present antibiotics orally and antibiotic ear drops will be used. Do an MRI scan to rule out any congenital pathology present or not.

Hope that helps
