What Causes Fluid Drainage From The Legs In Stroke Patients?
My 85 year old father is in assisted living after suffering a stroke about 9 years ago. The other night , a nurses aid notice some fluid draining from his lower right leg. (His right side has paralysis)He doesn t have any visiable wounds around this area and It only seems to happen in the early morning, between 4am and 6am. We are not sure what is causing this, but he is on a lot of medication.
In all likelihood he has swelling in the leg which is poorly mobile due to pooling of blood and lymph fluids which are normally PUSHED back toward the heart by the action of leg muscles and walking. The fluid is clear and often times described as WEEPING as the skin develops droplets or moistness. He needs to have the leg mobilized or wrapped in compressive stockings. Please rate this as a 5 star encounter and write me at: www.bit.ly/drdariushsaghafi for more information or questions.
