What Causes Flu, Cough And Cold After Cataract Surgery?

Hi! Thank u! My neighbor is 78 yrs old and came over to ask me if I was available tonite in case she needed to go to the hospital. She states that she thinks she has the flu. Has an unstoppable cough. No congestion. She stated that she s had pneumonia before and thinks that it s possible. But doesn t feel the same. Also I might add she has cataracts surgery on one eye yesterday. She said she got the cold the night before the surgery. Soooo, tonight what s she s done so far is, we have a humidifier going, she has Vicks on her chest and throat. Had a cup of hot tea. No medications other than the eye drops every 4 hrs. Should she do nitequil?

Hi.
The coughing is dangerous for just operated cataract.
You must take her to the ER to have investigations as it is very important to know the reasons of cough and to treat them effectively.
Otherwise the lens may displace.
Ideally the eye is not operated if the patient has cough.
Continue the eye drops.
