What Causes Flesh Like Vaginal Discharge After Taking Depo Shot?

I started the depo shot on August 10th due to very heavy periods. I have been on my period (1st one since getting the shot) for about 6 days. Yesterday I had some fleshing material that came out and it had what looked like red spots/veins in it. I ve never had this happen before and was wondering if it was normal or if I should be worried. Also, can you tell me what it is?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Coagulated blood may happen with periods and is generally no source of concern, especially if you are taking depo-shot.
On the other hand, it is best to seek medical advise and have a gynecological examination done. If you have not had a pap smear in the last 2 years, this might be a good occasion to have it done.

I hope this answers your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician
