What Causes Flatulence And Abdominal Gas In A Teenager?
MY daughter is 14 years old and had stomach issues since she was born. Mostly painful gas, flatulence and bloating. When her diet is modified to eating cleanly and eliminating gluten, dairy and sugar she is significantly better. She has been tested for allergic reactions to these foods but the results were negative. Cold there be something else wrong with her?
As per your query, your teenager has symptoms of flatulence and abdominal gas which seems to be due to stomach flu and could be due to food intolerance.
Need not to worry. Consult gastroenterologist once for proper examination. The doctor will take history and order a blood test. The doctor may prescribe anti-inflammatory medications. You should avoid intake of outside food. You should take an oral rehydrating solution as well. For now, do proper rest because rest is important in case of viral infection and apply warm compresses on the body.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Harry Maheshwari, Dentist
