Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Flaring Of Arms And Twitching Of Fingers In A Child?
Hi there. My 3 1/2 year old girl flares her arms, wiggles/twitch her fingers, and is very hyper active when she gets excited. She is currently attending a Early Intervention Program for delayed Speech. She has OT, and Physical Therapy sessions every week for three (3) hours. I want to know if I need to see a doctor for her constant flaring of arms, etc..
Constant flaring of arms & wiggling of fingers suggests stereotypical movement, and in the background of speech delay might suggest autism disorder. Kindly take her to a pediatric neurologist to screen for autism.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam T. K., Pediatrician
