What Causes Fingers And Ankles Swelling, Breathlessness With High Blood Sugar Levels?

my fingers are continuously swollen for the past month..it is getting difficult to hold even a cup..it's the fingers more than the joints. They are shiny..i get thirsty often and short of breath..my pcp gave me a blood test for RA (both parents have severe RA..dad has MDS auto immune disease..tests came back negative for RA & Lupus but fingers are still swollen...ankles also swelling more than ususal...pcp said my sugar is high and my inflammation level is high...referring me to rheumatologist..what could be the reason...my muscles also hurt and i feel light headed at times..i am 46 yrs
