What Causes Fingernails And Toenails To Fall Out?

My 4 year old has started losing her finger nails and toe nails. They are peeling off, usually from the bottom. Her pediatrician said it was not a fungus and referred me to a dermatologist. They can t get us in for over 2 weeks. I m concerned that this cannot wait two weeks.

Hello and thank you for your question. There are a number of conditions that can cause nail loss. A dermatologist is best suited to figure this out when they see your child. It is fine for you to wait two weeks for a dermatologist. This is not the sign of any type of emergency situation. Good luck to you.
