What Causes Fever With Headaches And Joint Pain?
I'm very worried about my 29 year old sister who was hospitalized Tuesday for a fever of 104, severe head aches, fatigue and joint pain. She was born with sickle cell anemia and has battled debilitating pain her whole life. She is still in the hospital because of an elevated red blood cell count, severe constipation, fatigue and severe headaches. Any idea what the diagnosis would be?

1. Appears to be sickle cell crisis.
2. Will require immediate red blood cell exchange transfusion to reduce the amount of sickle cells.
3. Associated infection, would have increased hypoxia leading to increased sickle cells. Not to worry. Antibiotics and red cell exchange will improve the symptoms soon.
