What Causes Fever, Shortness Of Breath And Running Nose?
I developed a sore throat Friday evening. On Saturday morning, I woke up with a headache and feeling tired and achy. Later that day I developed a dry cough that sounds more like a bark. My temp has fluctuated from 99.0 to 100.6 all weekend and is currently back up to 100.2. I noticed some shortness of breath yesterday. My ears are stopped up and I have a clear liquid discharge from my nose that s like a leaky faucet whenever I bend over.
You have an Upper Respiratory Infection. It seems that your infection involves Rhinitis, Sinusitis, Pharyngitis and most probably Laryngitis. The shortness of breath must be from blocked nasal passages or an associated Lower Respiratory Infection. You can take antipyretics for your fever and headache. You can use Decongestant nasal drops in your nose to relieve the nasal congestion, watery nose and ear congestion. After instilling nasal drops, wait for 10 minutes and do steam inhalation and also warm saline gargle. Do this at least 3 times a day and you will have a very good relief. If your conditions worsens or does not improve within 3 days, you will have to see your doctor for a prescription. You may need antibiotics to clear the infection. Take care and have a nice day.
