What Causes Fever In A Kid After Falling Down?

My 23 month old son fell down the stairs and hit his head hard enough that he is a big bump on it. He seemed fine after being held for a few minutes immediately following the fall. This happened on Saturday and then on Monday he started to run a temperature of around 102. His fever broke last night (Tuesday night), but he still seems weak and not himself. Could the fever be caused by the fall? Or is it more likely it is just coincidence and he caught a bug?

Hi, Thanks for your question, I think the fever is more likely co-incidental that created by the fall. Tylenol and Advil and good drugs for bringing fevers down. Tepid baths can also help if the drugs do not bring his temperature under control,
Best wishes
