What Causes Fever, Body Pain, Fatigue And Urine Retention?

My husband had fever, aches all over, fatigue, and urinary retension. Cathed for 1000 cc. Then he was told his sodium was 128. I am a nurse and feel that he has a bladder infection which could cause swelling in urethra and retention. From my reading I understand that low sodium can be present with a urinary tract infection. Does this sound correct? The Dr gave him rocephen iv and amoxicillin 2 days ago and no urine test so now the urine may not tell us much . What can they give him to cover an unknown bacterial uti? White blood cells were also high 2 days ago

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi dear,
With such presentation in my clinic i will exclude severe cases:

-Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH)
-Prostate cancer and other pelvic malignancies
-Prostatitis

He needs X-ray of urine bladder, urine culture and sensitivity to antibiotics, blood for Chlamidia,Mycoplasma trachomatis and Ureaplasma urealyticum. His therapy is correct. After Ceftriaxon(rocephen)better give ofloxacin or ciprofloxacin to cover all causes.
Wish your husband speedy recovery
