What Causes Feeling Of Lump In Throat After A Dental Session

Hi I am 26 years old and I had my top 2 wisdom teeth cut out almost 2 months ago and now I feel like I have a lump in my throat. I have been to my doctor and he told me post nasal drip. I took some antibiotics and was on mucinex for a week and I still have this lump feeling in my throat. I am a smoker but the problem didn't happen until after this surgery

Hi..
Can understand your concern..

As per your complain as you already have two months gone when your wisdom tooth was extracted and you do not have any discomfort or pain associated with those teeth then the lump in throat doesn't seems to be associated with dental extraction in any way..

As the doctor you consulted diagnosed it to be due to post nasal drip then it could be due to infection causing formation of lump..

As you are a smoker in that case the smoke and chemicals present in cigarette can irritate your throat leading to increase in inflammation and the time taken for the healing of any inflamed lesion can take a longer time..

Other thing is that as you are a smoker the lump in the throat can be something pointing towards some tumour which can be either cancerous or even non cancerous..

I would suggest you to first all all stop smoking..

Do warm saline gargles..
Continue your medication..
Maintain hydration..
Avoid any spicy or hard foods..

Just wait for a period of 3 to 4 days and if still you do not find any improvement you should consult an ENT surgeon and get investigated for the cause of the lump and get treated accordingly..

Hope this information helps..
