What Causes Fecal Impaction After Taking Clearlax?

I have been taking morpine and oxycone for pain. I am havig bloating and difficulty with shortness of breath. The Phamacist gave me ClearLax. It seems to have helped my breathing but I have not yet had a bm ... I took the recommended dosage of 17 grams about 4 hours ago. Is it safe to take another dose to try to ge a bm? M last bm was about 12 hours ago, small. I have been taking some rerDiem pills for about 3 weeks. I am worried about bowl impaction.

Hi,

Opioids very commonly cause constipation, and for the same reason, we generally prescribe a laxative (a drug that moves the bowel) with Opioids to avoid constipation.

However, if you have taken the recommended dose only four hours back, there is no need to take another dose. It may take a bit time. You lay wait a day for next dose.

You should not worry about faecal impaction, it's unlikely with few days of constipation. Take more fluids and fibres.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
